Daily rhythms and navigation

The morning fish market near Piazza Mercato del Pesce reaches its peak before eight, when swordfish and red prawns arrive straight from coastal boats. For city parking, avoid the restricted ZTL within the old center and use the open seaside lots along Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

Afternoon weather patterns dictate every outing. When the southern Scirocco brings dry desert warmth, retreat to the cooler mountain elevations of Erice; when the northern Tramontana wind blows clear and cool, the western beaches and salt pan walking paths offer ideal walking conditions.
